Modern trends in English phraseology

Phraseological units or idioms, are separately designed language units with completely or partially rethought meanings. PU are much more complex formations than simple words and free phrases. Phraseologisms are stable (not variable) combinations of words with a complicated meaning, for example the meaning of the entire phrase is not always clear from the meanings of its constituents. And even when there is a corresponding equivalent or analogue of phraseological units in Russian, it is not easy to choose the most appropriate and correct option, since a number of factors must be taken into account when translating. Phraseological units are widely used not only in oral speech and fiction, but also in media text, making the style of presentation figurative, bright and colorful. PhUs carry a huge functional-stylistic and emotionally-expressive load in the media text. Phraseologisms are figures of speech, i.e. rethought turnovers, which are used not in ordinary, but in special, figurative meanings. Therefore, a clear, correct interpretation of their meanings in many ways contributes to the reconstruction of the imagery, stylistic features and emotional and expressive specifics of the original in translation. The peculiarity of languages, expressed in their lexical structure and grammatical structure, the mismatch of concept systems among different peoples, different ways of their historical development and the conditions of reality, differences in culture and worldview give rise to certain difficulties in translating phraseological units.
