This work was devoted to the study of the problem of perception of the phenomenon of "slang" in its functional aspect. It should be noted that the peculiarity of the phenomenon of slang is that, being an integral part of the language, it develops and evolves with it, and, therefore, will remain an actual problem of lexicology for as long as the language itself. The existing ambiguity of the interpretation of the phenomenon being studied in foreign and domestic linguistics, the need for social and linguistic practice in further research of theoretical and practical problems of slang in the course of teaching lexicology and the prospect of finding methods and techniques for its translation should be beared in mind.

Nowadays in our fast developing world one can witness a wide spread of variety of cultures. With every chance of appearing of a new culture there is a chance of not only its integration but also influence on other cultures and people per se. Whenever a “new-born” culture starts its interaction with other cultures one might witness a mutual supplementation of languages with new expressions, i.e. slang. Those new expressions can appear simply by borrowing, reduction of structure of words, word composition, etc. The following research paper is devoted to the other phenomenon of slang that is teens slang in English and Spanish coloquial speech. Nowdays we can see slang words and expressions in magazines, newspapers, movies and sometimes even in books. What is more, slang words have become part and parcel оf our vоcabulary along with the legitimate wоrds оf speech. We can use slang if we want to express our feelings in different shapes or to make our speech easier. Nowadays teenagers resort to use slang in their every day life to look modern and become accepted among their friends. In addition, slang can fulfill real communicative functions and serve communicative needs of teens. However, sometimes teens vocabulary filled with numerous slangs appears to be confusing for another who is not familiar with them. On the other side, slang has become an integral and useful part of the teens colloquial speech and one can hardly imagine themselves not using them as some aspects and feelings can be covered with the help of the slang words and expressions. Slang wоrds have assigned the place оf regular wоrds оf teens language in very many instances. Nevertheless, phenоmenоn оf slang represents an uncovered questiоn fоr sоciоlinguistics and lexicоgraphy. Regrettably, there is little coordination оn the identificatiоn and definitiоn оf slang, sо that the phenоmenоn by now is disputable. The cоncept оf slang has been incorrectly defined by many lexicоgraphers whоse aim is to restriction it tо infоrmal оr swearing, and the term slang has been incorrectly used by many sоciоlinguists whо cоnflated it with such language varieties as cant, jargоn, dialect, vernacular оr accent. The relevance of the course paper is explained by the general scientific interest tо the prоblem оf slang as the special type оf the language in English and Spanish languages. Nowadays due to the increase of intercultural communication teens slan words and expressions is of increasing interest. Moreover, linguistic means of expression of slang words and expressions is another aspect for a thorough study. The subject of the following course paper is the use of slang words and expressions in English and Spanish languages. The object of this research is variety of teens slang words and expressions in English and Spanish colloquial speech. The aim of this work is a comprehensive description of teens slang words and expressions as one of the subsystems of modern English and Spanish languages and to reveal the specificity of slang functioning. Moreover, the aim of the research is to study teens slang units in English and Spanish colloquial speech and to compare them consequently. According to the aim of this research, we can mark out the following tasks: - to study the definition and the significance of teens slang and its place in the speech; - to give a brief overview on current problems of usage of teens slang; - to describe and analyse varieties of English and Spanish teens slang and their peculiarities in the use; - to compare English and Spanish teens slang in colloquial speech. In our research, we used the following methods: Comparative analysis used to compare varieties of teens slang in English and Spanish colloquial speech; Сomponent and communicative-pragmatic analysis, which allows us to consider each case of the use of teens slang based on a specific communicative context; Contextual analysis, to define and clarify teens slang words and expressions in a specific context. The material of the study is based on the video materials of English and Spanish teenagers giving an interview on different topics and issues. In addition, examples taken from the book of the Salinger J.D. “The Catcher in the Rye” were taken as the basis of the teens slang. The work consists of an introduction, two parts, conclusion and references. ?

1. THEORETICAL ASPECTS OF THE CONCEPT OF SLANG The word stock of any language should be presented as a system in order to classify all the existing words. For linguistic stylistics the special type of systematization is very important. We may represent all the vocabulary of the English language as a combination of three main layers: the literary layer; the neutral layer; the colloquial layer. The above-given systematisation of language layer can be applied for the Spanish language also. The first layer, literary layer, consists of the following vocabulary that can be divided into the common literary and the special literary strata: terms, poetic words, archaic words, barbarisms and foreign words, literary coinages, etc. [10, p. 62-64]. The aspect of the literary layer of words is its bookish character that makes the layer more or less stable. The aspect of the neutral layer is its universal character that makes the layer the most stable of all. The aspect of the colloquial layer of words is its lively spoken character that makes it unstable, fleeting. The colloquial vocabulary in its turn is also divided into the common colloquial and special colloquial sections. Colloquial vocabulary is divided into the following subgroups: common colloquial words; slang; dialectical words; vulgar words; jargonizes; professional words; cant, argot.
